Part One and Beyond

My mother always told me one thing when it came to writing: write from the heart.

Cliché and boring some of you might think, but I find this simple piece of truth to be like the styling of the great Audrey Hepburn: honest, clean, simple, yet dazzling.

It is funny how I got to be here considering I have loved the idea of styling, costumes, wardrobes, and design since I was a young girl wearing too many dresses at once because I could not decide which dress to wear. I have found my life to be complicated when it came to deciding on what I wanted to do (more like made it complicated).  A downright simple question that many of my age peril with frustration, guilt, and anxiety. But hey, if we did not feel these things I guess we would not be human. Or worse human less beings that cannot stand the idea of working and doing one thing for the rest of their life! And money? Forget it. We often most settle because doing what we really want often requires a lot of hard work and sacrifice. But why?

That was all it took for me to realize, that it was time to start fucking writing. But not write for the sake of writing—I like getting to the point ironically enough. Writing about what I love to do, but taking that one step higher or more. Planning, researching, posting, styling, making clients, making friends, making enemies just doing (Nike should endorse me).  And as I write my first heartfelt blog about what I love it somehow does not feel like work.

So let us get to the point. What do I want?

I want to be a wardrobe stylist.

What does that mean?

I want to create a world for myself where I call the shots, where I take control and take people with me. I want to imagine, dream, and love what I do—because I get one life. It is that simple. I am a fighter, I am a winner, and I do not take no for an answer. But I am also kind, generous, and vulnerable. I want to approach this new business of mine with a light. That light is what will make me unique. Because let us be honest this business of fashion and styling is not original. Like in the Devil Wears Prada: A thousand girls would kill for that job. Hey I am not interested in killing anyone. I’d rather create my own job and create a legacy that others can follow.

So here we go, I hope you can come along for the ride.

love,
